squids to go!

My sister in law's husband is a native of Guinyangan, Quezon.Whenever they will visit the province they make it a point to drop by our home since it's just along the way, at the same time they will bring us freshly-caught seafoods stored in styro boxes (yes boxes-plural!they are that generous). Actually they buy it at bit cheaper price there as compared to the prices we buy it for in the market, sometimes it's priced twice or thrice as much because they buy it straight from the source(directly from the fisherman).

Being a seafood lover ( thank God I don't have the allergies!) I really enjoy these treats so much...

This is squid in sauteed in onions and tomatoes, flavored with coconut milk, so yummy! One thing with squid, there's a perfect timing for cooking it since overcooking will result to gummy texture, but this one is just perfect...

Totsy

I just wanted to share the online orders I made from Totsy, which I discovered from reading US based mom bloggers. I was amazed at how the prices of their goods are super discounted to think that all are of exceptional quality as well. They have ongoing deals everyday  that you can take advantage of up to 80% or more depending on the product. The discounted prices are open for a limited time after which the offer will not be available anymore. They offer not just children's clothes and accessories but a whole variety of other products for the whole family.

So around November I ordered these from Totsy

I ordered 2 dresses, the white dress for $16.25 and the red one is at $13.25 and matching shoes to these dresses  at $14.25 each.

I ordered two dresses and two matching shoes for a total of $58.50, (it was supposed to be for a total of $122.98-I forgot the details and discounts for each item) and shipping fee (of $7.95) is waived for the  first order. I chose to have it delivered to my husband's address in California because I think they will not accept orders for international delivery. Then he will have it delivered/shipped here in the Philippines.

One thing that I noticed is that they don't ship right away after the order was placed unlike other online stores, it was actually stated on the site, for my order it took two weeks before they were able to ship it. But the good thing about it is that they deliver what they promise. They said that after confirmation of order that it will be shipped on November 30 and they did. In fact I received this email when they have already shipped my orders:

order number was indicated together with UPS tracking number and the link so that you can easily check it

The verdict, I will yet have to see the quality of the products I ordered but I presume that they are of good condition. According to my husband, (he has shown me when he was opening the package-we were online in Skype) it was packed nicely with a sturdy box-the dresses still in hangers and wrapped in plastic. I am already excited to receive it! and I promised to write a post about it once I get hold of these stuff.

first Christmas gift

Ceana had her last visit to her pedia for the year last November 26th. She had her IPD vaccine (speaking of expensive!). Her next visit will be on January 20th next year (that also gives me ample time to recover from the expenses-Christmas and first birthday party celebration).

Before we left, her pedia gave her this cute bib and the Lamaze wrist rattle as a Christmas gift, making these the first ever Christmas gifts that Ceana received.

pink fridays #97 birthday party in pink

My daughter will be turning 11months on December 6th and soon will be her first birthday. Time really flies so fast. I remember that I have started blogging as a result of being awake in the wee hours of the morning after breastfeeding (I am proud to say I am still exclusively breastfeeding Ceana now!).

For this week I am sharing our pictures from the photo booth of the first birthday party Ceana has attended. Twas the celebration if Tia, a highschool batchmate's daughter who I became close and in constant communication with since I was pregnant. It all came about since we have the same OB-GYNE.and whenever we would have the same check up schedule, we would share our pregnancy experiences and stories. Even after we both gave birth, we shared not only our precious mommy moments but also our struggles as first time mommies.

It was a mommy moment for me since this I know this will be the first of  many parties she will attend in the future. I am a proud mom because she has behaved so well during the entire party and even posed for the shot below. (if you are wondering, who is the girl in black, well that was ME (plus the figure) 16 years ago,haha....nah! that's my niece Carrie who they said looks a lot like me- she was my 'mini-ME' before Ceana came...)

mommy moments - Ceana's Pool Experience

Despite a rainy day last October27, our clan went swimming to a nearby resort which happened to be the venue of or wedding reception some two and a half years ago. This is a mommy moment for me because this is her first time to dip in a pool. you can just imagine the look on her face when her feet touched the icy water!

Mommy Duties

It's been some days since my last entry. For the past days my mommy duties are keeping me from spending a lot of time blogging. Ceana is growing so fast that means she is getting active as each day passes and I being a stay at home mom sees ALL her needs-that leaves me drained at the end of the day. My mind is willing but my body is weak! Every night, I always plan of updating my blogs but I always find myself napping in between night feedings(this is one thing I like about breastfeeding!). And before I knew it, it's 4am and I've got just an or so before my princess would wake up...this is my everyday routine :

5am : Ceana wakes up followed by an early morning ritual (poops)-and so I wash her ass this early!
I take my breakfast while feeding her as well at around 6am while glancing on some morning news  and/or morning shows either through UKG  or Unang Hirit

7am : playtime or walker time-this time is training time since I am teaching her to walk by herself she can do a couple or three steps already!yey!when she gets bored I will take her for a walk a.k.a. "pangangapitbahay" since we live in a compound I would usually bring her anywhere within the compound for a refresher until she gets bored again, haha

8am : next feeding starts and she will take her first nap-she is like an alarm clock you will know what the time is because of her actions-she will cry endless unless she gets fed and then falls asleep

9am : bath time then playtime, usually when Daddy is already at home Skype video starts this early and (sometimes if I am lucky she naps for some 30minutes or so before she takes her lunch at 11am...)

11am : lunch time (Daddy still on Skype!)-playtime after

1pm : 2nd nap for the day (sometimes I get to update blogs or view my Facebook/Twitter); but most of the time especially lately, I also take a nap (I never outsleep Ceana naman!)

3pm : play time, video time, story telling time, etc

5pm : time for wash up preparing for dinner after

6-7pm : all prepared to sleep, we listen to her favorite lullabyes, play, watch Mickey Mouse videos

Now you might be wondering-Where is mommy time?

Well now that explains everything...

new name...

This is my entry to Techie She’s Lucky Blogger Weekly Giveaways Week No. 22. This week’s prize is $10 paypal credits sponsored by Jared’s Mum of Mumwrites.

Some of your might be confused with the name of this blog and may be wondering whether if you are really at the right blog. Yes you are!Don't worry!

As mentioned in the first post, this blog was initially named Handy Mommy, but then during domain registration that name is already taken so I needed to come up with a new blog name. My Charmed Mom, carries our family's initials, my hubby and I have the same so when I decided for my daughter's name I have looked for names to come up with the same initials (pathetic huh?).

So when I was brainstorming for this blog's name, I have considered to use the initials since I wanted to carry the word, mommy, mom or MUM and just needed to add an adjective to it (the MY is a given!). Boy!It was difficult, there are a lot of adjectives starting with letter C but some are not appropriate to use and describe the word mom (such as clownish, careful, cute (ahem!hehe), copious, capable, charitable, cautious, catastrophic (wth?), cynical, capricious, conventional, contemporary and the list goes on and on..)

Then I saw the word CHARMED, looked it up on thefreedictionary.com and came up with these meanings(below), then I was charmed with the word and the rest is history!

So again welcome to my new blog, My Charmed Mom!

The source:
ThesaurusLegend:  Synonyms Related Words Antonyms
Adj.
1.charmed - strongly attracted
loving - feeling or showing love and affection; "loving parents"; "loving glances"
2.charmed - filled with wonder and delight
enchanted - influenced as by charms or incantations

how to be a TRULY COOL MOM?

Welcome to my new blog!

As some of you might think why HANDY MOMMY? Based from an online dictionary : HANDY adj. 1. Skillful in using one's hands; manually adroit.(quick or skillful or adept in action or thought) 2. Readily accessible 3. Useful; convenient 4. easy to use or handle.

Aren't these the same adjectives you want to have as a mom?Well of course not literally! As a new mom, for me it signifies ease and inspiration though we all know it's one helluva ride. I want to be motivated at the same time to enjoy this process and journey called Motherhood.

And for my pilot blog, let me share with you my insights about being a cool mom. As a new mommy, I wanted to be just perfect for my kid. I know there isn't such thing as perfect. I know I am going to that path as early as now-of teaching discipline ,of instilling values and norms, of molding my child(ren)to become good individuals someday. It is a long road ahead. It is a tough job.

One cannot always be a supermom, a mother is also an individual who has her own personal needs to be taken cared of. She is real-human. The tendency of a mom is to always see the needs of her family but neglect her own, this shouldn't be the case. As women, we should also pause and give ourselves some "me time" we're not robots programmed after all.

As I was reading Smart Parenting's Weekly Newsletter,I came upon this Article "8 Traits of a Truly Cool Mom" by Martine de Luna, and here some of the excerpts from the article.

"Being a 'cool mom' is a matter of attitude and a happy disposition."

1. A cool mom is true to herself.
2. A cool mom isn't a kid-pleaser.
3. A cool mom is patient.
4. A cool mom knows where to draw the line between "friend" and "mom".
5. A cool mom teaches her kids to live simply.
6. A cool mom raises her kid's self esteem.
7. A cool mom knows when to let her kids fly.
8. A cool mom can laugh at whatever life throws her way.

So can you say you're a cool one?Share your ideas with me and let's take this journey together.

Food Cravings Story

Before we move on to delivery, as they say a pregnancy is not complete without those unusual food cravings. Well for me, it is not actually unusual since I just ate ordinary foods at larger quantities and craved for them more than the usual. And these foods are the following :

Minute Maid Pulpy Orange Juice (this is what I drank for the first few weeks, and even before I knew I was preggy, I had been drinking it while we were in Baguio-see pregnancy story here)

Blueberry Cheesecake (and I haven't overcome the craving till now)

Cheesebread ( made in a local bakery and I get really frustrated if I was not able to buy because everything has been sold out-since this has a schedule for production-that is after lunch a.k.a 'merienda time' and the fact that it is a bestseller, good timing is needed to buy it)

Lychees ( this is actually a favorite as in super! pregnant or not)

Mixed Fruits Salad (when I was pregnant I my regular stop during grocery shopping is Puregold's Fresh Fruit Stand-"ung sabi nilang malapit nang mabulok na fruits and they just shave off the bad part and make into salad the good part-well it was damn yummy!))

Dunkin' Donut Strawberry-filled doughnut ( again another favorite pregnant or not!)

Jollibee's TLC Burger( just love the combination of lettuce, cheese and tomato plus the mayo dressing-take note JOLLIBEE not anything else, hehe)

Jollibee's  Meaty Spaghetti (well it was not really meaty after all!there was a time that I was able to eat 4 in a day and that is 'To-Go' or take out, I don't like to dine in at the stores and take note again JOLLIBEE not anything else, hehe!)

How about you?what were your cravings?(pregnant or not)lol

First Time : Carousel

Today October16, 2011 was Ceana's first time to ride a merry go round (of course with me holding her!). You can just imagine the look on her face when the 'horse' started to gallop up and down, and then started circling around, me on the other hand is fighting the urge to be dizzy,haha... and everytime she passes by Lola and Lolo, who were positioned along the railings she automatically waves, and that is so cute! Well it was a very nice experience for her and I think she enjoyed it seeing how she smiles as she looks around and up the moving machine that she is hitched on to.

*these are just pictures taken from the Internet, will post actual pictures pretty soon...I am just so dead tired for today to upload the photos...
